Historic England consultancy

The project

The UK Government has significantly altered the funding mechanisms for historic and listed places of worship, leaving many local community institutions uncertain about how to fund vital maintenance and repair work. There is an urgent need to ensure that these places of worship have the right information about where to look for funding to ensure that buildings remain safe, open and anchor institutions at the heart of local communities.

Historic England has commissioned Good Faith to produce resources that signpost places of worship to funding opportunities that best fit their needs. Through the ‘Which funder for what Places of Worship’ project, Good Faith is creating an index of a huge range of funders for places of worship to access, with a particular focus on those places of worship who are unsuccessful in their applications to receive the new Places of Worship Renewal Fund. The index will be accompanied by a decision tree that will guide churches and other places of worship to identify funding opportunities that best align with their needs.
